Hanoi seminar explores community arts and the living space

Hanoi 8 September 2015-- Community arts, including public community art, help beautify the living space of the community with the participation of the community’s members in a variety of forms to renovate their living environment.

The topic was up for discussion at a seminar for development of a project named ‘Art for Better Space’, jointly held by the Korean Foundation, UN-Habitat and Vietnam Urban Forum (VUF) in Hanoi on September 4.

Rwanda to adopt a new water tariff designed with UN-Habitat's help

Nairobi  25 August 2015—Starting 1 September, Rwanda introduced a new urban water supply tariff which was designed with the help of UN-Habitat. The new tariff has been designed to move the utility towards full cost recovery. In line with the pro-poor policy of the UN-Habitat and the water policy of Rwanda, the tariff is structured to protect the urban poor from paying unaffordable prices.

State of Rio de Janeiro and UN-Habitat to join hands on sustainable urban development

Rio de Janeiro 31 August 2015--Representatives of UN-Habitat and the State of Rio de Janeiro have signed an agreement on sustainable urban development.

During the ceremony, the governor of Rio de Janeiro, Luiz Fernando Pezão, and the Director of the regional office of UN-Habitat in Latin America and the Caribbean, Elkin Velasquez, made a commitment to promote actions and projects for the benefit of urban and metropolitan governance.

Asian Mayors Forum convenes in Iran_2Tehran, 31 August 2015 – The Fifth Executive Board meeting of the Asian Mayors Forum has opened in Tehran at the Azadi Hotel.  The opening ceremony was attended by mayors of Asian cities, members of the diplomatic community and partners from international organisations. The Forum continues in Tehran and then moves to Qazvin, about 150 kilometres northwest of the capital.
