Work begins on new water supply pipeline for Hargeisa

Hargeisa, 20 September 2015-- The European Union, Somaliland Development Fund, UN-Habitat, and the Government of Somaliland on Sunday inaugurated the start of installation works for the new 23-km water supply pipeline from Geed Deeble to Hargeisa. On completion in 2017, the project will increase the amount of water available for Hargeisa city from 9 million to 14.5 million litres per day.

Mexico meeting births Urban Poverty Stakeholders lobby

Monterrey, 15 September 2015—At the end of an international seminar recently held in Monterrey, Mexico, the participants came up with the lobby, the "Latin American Community of Urban Poverty Stakeholders". The Community is an open and voluntary network promoting the exchange of experiences on urban poverty and social inclusion. It is a joint initiative between the Ministry of Social Development of Mexico, the Global Fund for Cities Development, the World Bank and UN-Habitat.

On a visit to the State of Palestine, Dr. Clos holds talks with the Prime Minister and Local Government Minister

Ramallah, 8 September 2015--  – UN Habitat Executive Director Dr. Joan Clos undertook a one day mission to  Palestine starting 6th of September where he held high level meetings with the Prime Minister Mr. Rami Hamdallah and Mr.Hussein Al-A’raj, Minister of Local Government.
