Exposing the value of waste through urban development

Nairobi, Kenya 11 June 2015– As part of a comprehensive tour of UN-Habitat programmes in Kenya, Ján Ilavský, President of the 25th session of UN-Habitat’s Governing Council, and Sunu M. Soemarno, Chairman of the Committee of Permanent Representatives, visited Kenya’s first semi-aerobic landfill in Kang’oki, Kiambu County during the Governing Council meeting earlier this year.

National seminar marks first year of the new cooperation programme between UN-Habitat and Morocco

Rabat 17 June 2015-- Within a two year programme, UN-Habitat has been partnering with the Moroccan Ministry of Housing and Urban Policy and Al Omrane Holding, the state company for urban and social housing projects with the main objective of strengthening strategic and operational frameworks for the institutions in order to address large urban extensions and urban renewal projects.

UN-Habitat and Special Envoy for the Great Lakes pilot youth project

Goma, 15 June 2015-- UN-Habitat and the Office of the Special Envoy for the Great Lakes are piloting a project aimed at addressing the many challenges facing young people in the region. The overall goal of the Youth Centres for Peace Project is to contribute to the promotion of programmes that address Youth unemployment through infrastructure development and investment promotion in the Great Lakes Region specifically targeting the border towns.
