UN-Habitat and partners hold forum on extension of Accra
Accra 8 June 2015—UN-Habitat and its partners recently held a forum to discuss the National Planned City Extension of the Grater Accra Region. The meeting held at the Central University College in Prampram brought together key political figures including Mr. E.T. Mensah, Special Advisor to the President of Ghana, Mr. S.A. Rhack Nartey, District Chief Executive of Ningo-Prampram District Assembly and Nat Nunoo Amaterfio, former Mayor of Accra, among others.
UN-Habitat launches new report on planning for Palestinian communities in East Jerusalem
Ramallah, 5 June 2015 – UN-Habitat has launched a new report “Right to Develop: Planning Palestinian Communities in East Jerusalem,” which analyzes different approaches to planning adopted by Palestinian communities who face continued restrictions on their planning rights in East Jerusalem, and who have little to no say in official city planning.
Kisumu Members of County Assembly sensitised on urban planning

Humanitarian Response Plan 2015 for Iraq launched
Brussels 4 June 2015 – To urgently address the growing needs in Iraq, the humanitarian community on Thursday launched a revised plan - the 2015 Humanitarian Response Plan for Iraq. The plan will target 5.6 million vulnerable Iraqis with essential, life-saving support over the next six months.
United Nations Inter-Agency Standing Committee, Principals meeting held in Nairobi
Nairobi, 29 May – UN-Habitat recently hosted a two day ‘United Nations Standing Committee’ (IASC) Principals’ Meeting in Kenya at the United Nations Offices in Gigiri. This is the first time that the ‘Principals’ meeting has been held in a developing country.
The meeting was attended by the in-coming Emergency Relief Coordinator (ERC), Stephen O'Brien, who will be taking up formal duties from 1 June 2015 when he takes over from Valerie Amos. The IASC Principals are the heads of all IASC member agencies or their representatives and they meet twice a year.
UN-Habitat boosts regional planning in Kenya with Tana and Athi River agreement
