Kenyan journalists attend Urban Journalism Academy

IMG_0759Nairobi 16 April 2015—A group of Kenyan journalists drawn from various media houses on Thursday benefited from talks delivered at the Urban Journalism Academy.

The journalists heard from their counterparts from an American news agency Citiscope as well as the Director of the Regional Office for Africa at UN-Habitat Ms. Axumite Gebre-Egziabher.

UN-Habitat Youth Mentorship program to link mentors with projects

UN-Habitat´s Youth Mentorship programme will for the second time, partner with mentors to increase the capacity of youth-led organizations it supports. Twenty-two organizations in Africa, Asia Pacific, Arab States, Latin America and the Caribbean, were selected this year to receive both a grant and training. These youth-led groups’ work span various sectors, from technology and agriculture to governance, education and poverty reduction. This linkage is aimed to start in the second quarter of 2015.

The second preparatory meeting of Habitat III opens in Nairobi

Nairobi 14 April 2015—The second preparatory meeting (PrepCom2) of the Habitat III conference has opened in Nairobi with member states recognizing the growing role of cities in their respective country policies. The Secretary-General of the Habitat III Conference, Dr. Joan Clos, in his key note speech highlighted the link between urbanization and rural development.
