Ramallah, 5 June 2015 – UN-Habitat has launched a new report “Right to Develop: Planning Palestinian Communities in East Jerusalem,” which analyzes different approaches to planning adopted by Palestinian communities who face continued restrictions on their planning rights in East Jerusalem, and who have little to no say in official city planning.

Urban challenges emerging one month after Nepal earthquake.
Kathmandu, 25 May - One month after the earthquake of 25 April, the National Planning Commission of Nepal hosted an expert meeting convened by UN-Habitat to review the challenges of urbanization and reconstruction. The lead questions are to identify urban drivers for national recovery and to encourage future resilient urbanization.

Governing Council ends as UN-Habitat’s responsibility to lead New Urban Agenda solidified
Nairobi 29 April 2015—The 25th session of the Governing Council of UN-Habitat came to a close Thursday night, 24th April 2015, solidifying the agency’s responsibility to lead the New Urban Agenda.
The closing followed days of hard consultation and deliberation. The event saw 780 delegates and 85 UN member countries in attendance while more than 100 partner organisations were represented.
