The profile offers a comprehensive in-depth analysis of the country’s urban housing sector. The Profile contributes to the creation of a policy framework that enables the provision of adequate housing for all. It builds a comprehensive understanding of the functioning of the urban housing sector that can serve as an authoritative reference point for all actors involved in the direct provision or enablement of housing.

The shift towards a predominantly urban world makes the process of urbanization one of the most significant global trends of the 21st century. The significant transformation that has occurred in recent decades has given greater understanding and recognition to the role of urbanization in development. Towards Habitat III, UN-Habitat has concentrated efforts to re-establish the role of housing for the future of sustainable urbanization.

The main theme of the seventh session was “Urban equity in development: cities for life”. Participants discussed the subject in the light of concerns about growing inequalities at all levels around the world through the various sessions at the Forum, considering how to integrate urban equity effectively into the development agenda with a view to ensuring a sustainable transformative change in an increasingly urbanized world
