Barcelona meeting group meeting discuses gender and post-conflict
Barcelona, 27 April 2016 – An Expert Group Meeting (EGM), Linking Relief, Rehabilitation and Development (LRRD): UN-Habitat Gender-Responsive Engagement in Post-Conflict Contexts was recently held in Barcelona. The meeting focused on the refinement of methodologies employed by UN-Habitat in three issue areas: housing & livelihoods, safety & security and spatial planning, in relation to gender equality in urban post-conflict contexts.
Ecuador and UN-Habitat in talks about post earthquake joint work
Quito 26 April 2016-- Representatives of the government of Ecuador and UN-Habitat had an asessment visit to Manabi and Esmeraldas áreas in Ecuador, to verify the damage in infrastructure and housing by the recent earthquake and also explore ways of future collaboration in post disaster reconstruction Works. Deputy Minister of Urban Development and Housing (MIDUVI) Jorge Navas and UN-Habitat Disaster Prevention Specialist Esteban Leon, over the weekend made a detailed fly over of the affected áreas.
