Cities in spotlight at Climate Change Summit COP21

The effects of urbanisation and climate change are converging in very threatening ways: Cities consume 78 per cent of the world’s energy and produce more than 60 per cent of all carbon dioxide and significant amounts of other greenhouse gas emissions.

The session convened representatives of cities, non-governmental organizations, NGOs, national governments and international organizations for a lively debate on how cities are acting on climate change and how this action can be accelerated.

UN-Habitat representative vows support for Mexican women

Mexico City, December 4, 2015 -- "We will strengthen the strategies of care for women and children victims of violence."

The phrase was said by the representative of UN-Habitat in this country, Erik Vittrup, during the signing of the agreement between the National Commission to Prevent and Eradicate Violence against Women (CONAVIM) and UN-Habitat, the last week, in the Juárez room of the Secretary of Governance, in Mexico City.
