UN-Habitat, as part of the Institutional Strengthening and Capacity Building (ISCB) project in Viet Nam, funded by the Government of Switzerland through the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), has conducted comparative legal case studies from 11 countries (Australia, Brazil, Chile, Kenya, Panama, Peru, Philippines, Rwanda, South Africa, South Korea, and the United Kingdom) to support the drafting of Vietnam’s Urban Development and Management Law.

The purpose of the Guidebook is to strengthen the ability of County Governments in Kenya to utilize existing legislation and provide key insights in the coordination of spatial planning policies. These policies define location and character of development and the economic regulation of resources necessary to deliver value for money. It identifies physical and land use policy, operational and regulatory issues and incorporates financing strategies to implement them.

As part of the stakeholder engagement activities for the Kalobeyei Infrastructure Corridor Development Plan, in Turkana County, Kenya, UN-Habitat and partners organized a workshop on “Mobilizing Investments”, which plays a critical role for the plan to be realised. This report is a Final Draft presentation of the Kalobeyei Settlement Advisory Development Plan. The plan report is for Turkana County Government’s consultation, approval and adoption.
