This is the fourth Annual Progress Report on the implementation of the six-year strategic plan (2014-2019). The annual report is meant to communicate, in a transparent and accountable manner, the impact of UN-Habitat’s work as well as the use of resources by the Organization.

The Report advocates for the need of cities to enhance the public realm, expand public goods and consolidate rights to the 'commons' for all as a way to expand prosperity.

This report uses the framework of 'The Urban Divide' to analyse the complex social, political, economic and cultural dynamics of urban environments. It addresses poverty and deprivation, which expose low-income urban dwellers to higher risks and make them even more vulnerable.

In response to an increasing emphasis of UN-HABITAT on documenting results rather than activities, an impact study on the activities supported by the Trust Fund was commissioned in the reporting year.
