In 2019, UN-Habitat and the Global Land Tool Network (GLTN) commissioned an Assessment of the Uptake of the Set of 15 indicators developed by the Global Land Indicators Initiative (GLII) in global and regional land and development frameworks and by land actors. This publication therefore, elaborates how GLII land indicators are being used by GLII partner and non-partner organizations and the impact of GLII indicators on the larger regional and global effort to promote land tenure rights for all.

This manual presents a practical approach to the valuation of unregistered land. It is designed to aid implementation of Valuation of Unregistered Lands: A Policy Guide, prepared by the Global Land Tool Network for the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), in combination with the international valuation standards of the International Valuation Standards Council. The manual comprises two parts.

The potential of Participatory Budgeting (PB), especially the subsequent downstream benefits that can be generated, remains still unexplored. PB makes possible the adoption of actions and the allocation of financial resources that result from the interactions between people and government. The authors propose innovative ways to engage with PB as a driver to disseminate information, increase awareness, and mitigate the risks and impacts of natural, health, and economic shocks.

From 1 to 5 September 2019, a Community-based Urban Vision Week was organized in Somaliland’s capital city of Hargeisa. Hargeisa is a fast-growing city with limited resources to plan and manage the urban development in a sustainable manner. The Urban Vision Week aimed at paving the pathway to a participatory strategic urban action plan for Hargeisa 2040, pivoting around a Shared Vision on the best possible urban scenario to strive for.

The manual is meant to fit into a training course for data gathering in Somalia. It serves as an introduction for local government and other interested stakeholders, guiding through the different scales and themes relevant to the context, the different methods of gathering data, and the types of data that can be gathered.
