Nairobi, November 27, 2017-- UN-Habitat has signed a cooperation agreement with the Politecnico di Milano, Italy to carry out a feasibility study for the closure of the Ngong Town illegal dumpsite and to design and construct a modern integrate municipal waste to energy plant.
On 13th – 16th November, UN-Habitat kick-started the Public Space Programme in Kalobeyei though a first participatory design workshop with youth from refugees and host communities. In addition to the host community, seven different nationalities were involved in the workshop. The Public Space Programme will establish a network of public spaces designed, implemented and maintained by host and refugee communities, fostering integration the two communities to ensure sense of community ownership and use of the public space.
November 21, 2017, Some fifty-seven persons and dignitaries of the Ministry of Town Planning, Housing and the Living Environment, the media and the United Nations gathered in the conference hall of the Ministry to witness the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Government of Togo and UN-Habitat.

Geneva 14 September 2017--UN-Habitat and UNECE co-organized a final regional workshop of the UNDA 9th tranche project “Strengthening national capacities for sustainable housing and urban development in countries with economies in transition”. The workshop was held in Geneva on 10 November to discuss experiences, best practices of and lessons learned in the implementation of the project.
