Fast-tracking Participatory Slum Upgrading through Regional Cooperation

Government of Japan undertakes monitoring visit in Kalobeyei

A delegation from the Government of Japan is in Kalobeyei between 18-20th December monitoring UN-Habitat activities in the Kalobeyei new settlement. The delegation is accompanied by the project team at UN-Habitat and representatives from Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS) and the World Agroforestry Center (ICRAF) who are working in collaboration with Water Land and Ecosystem program of CGIAR and Penn State University.

Training in Palestine on good land governance for peace, development, and human rights

Ramallah, Palestine, 10 December, 2017, The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) office in Palestine and the Global Land Tool Network (GLTN) started today a four-day orientation training on Social Tenure Domain Model applications in Area C of the West Bank. The training is convened in partnership with the Land and Water Settlement Commission (LWSC) and with support from the Office of the Prime Minister in Palestine to support the overall Land Reform Plan for the year 2017.

Women in Host, Refugee Communities Supporting Energy, Climate Change Integrated Planning

Kalobeyei, 8 December 2017 – In collaboration with the World Agroforestry Center (ICRAF) and the Office of International Programs, College of Agricultural Sciences, Pennsylvania State University, UN-Habitat has launched a project for briquette production in Kalobeyei new refugee settlement and the host community in a commitment to improve access to cooking energy.

Niger State and UN-Habitat Sign agreement to Implement the New Urban Agenda

Nairobi, 7 December 2017 – An eight man delegation from Niger State, Nigeria led by the Secretary to the State Government Hon. Ibrahim Isa Ladan visited UN-Habitat from 27th – 29th November, 2017 to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to implement the New Urban Agenda. The MoU ceremony was witnessed by the Nigerian Ambassador to Kenya, H.E Sheidu Omeiza Momoh.

The parties discussed and agreed to foster the cooperation through the following projects.
