22 December 2017 - Over 400 youth selected based on their contributions to peacebuilding and development initiatives, from across Somalia, came together to celebrate what can be achieved when youth are active agents of change and peace in their societies, as the second National Youth Conference was held in Somalia.

Yaounde, 14 December 2017 “I call on you to explore knowledge, experiences and practices that further enhance our cooperation in slum upgrading,” said Honourable Jean Claude Mbwentchou, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development in Cameroon, during the 2nd International Conference on Canadian, Chinese and African Sustainable Urbanization that took place from 8-14 December 2017 in Cameroon.
A delegation from the Government of Japan is in Kalobeyei between 18-20th December monitoring UN-Habitat activities in the Kalobeyei new settlement. The delegation is accompanied by the project team at UN-Habitat and representatives from Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS) and the World Agroforestry Center (ICRAF) who are working in collaboration with Water Land and Ecosystem program of CGIAR and Penn State University.
Stockholm, 15 December 2017 - Hosted by Sida, UN-Habitat organized back-to-back international expert group meetings on urban legislation from 6-8 December 2017. Participants of the meeting included experts in different fields and professions of Urban Law from around the world.
Ramallah, Palestine, 10 December, 2017, The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) office in Palestine and the Global Land Tool Network (GLTN) started today a four-day orientation training on Social Tenure Domain Model applications in Area C of the West Bank. The training is convened in partnership with the Land and Water Settlement Commission (LWSC) and with support from the Office of the Prime Minister in Palestine to support the overall Land Reform Plan for the year 2017.
Kalobeyei, 8 December 2017 – In collaboration with the World Agroforestry Center (ICRAF) and the Office of International Programs, College of Agricultural Sciences, Pennsylvania State University, UN-Habitat has launched a project for briquette production in Kalobeyei new refugee settlement and the host community in a commitment to improve access to cooking energy.
Nairobi, 7 December 2017 – An eight man delegation from Niger State, Nigeria led by the Secretary to the State Government Hon. Ibrahim Isa Ladan visited UN-Habitat from 27th – 29th November, 2017 to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to implement the New Urban Agenda. The MoU ceremony was witnessed by the Nigerian Ambassador to Kenya, H.E Sheidu Omeiza Momoh.
The parties discussed and agreed to foster the cooperation through the following projects.
Tomsk, 4 December, 2017 – Tomsk State University has become the first in the country to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with UN-Habitat.
