The Ninth session of the World Urban Forum (WUF9), taking place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in February 2018, has been recognized by the General Assembly resolution 70/210 as the first session to have a thematic focus on the implementation of the New Urban Agenda adopted at the United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development, Habitat III.

Kalobeyei, 22 December 2017 – UN-Habitat has been supporting integrated refugee and host communities in Turkana County, Kenya with support from the Government of Japan since 2016. After the successful completion of the spatial development framework, UN-Habitat is engaged in a community stabilization programme aimed at promoting peaceful coexistence and supporting the host and refugee communities in seizing opportunities from the development of Kalobeyei Settlement. One of the key activities is the construction of a community centre in the heart of Kalobeyei Refugee Settlement.
22 December 2017 - Over 400 youth selected based on their contributions to peacebuilding and development initiatives, from across Somalia, came together to celebrate what can be achieved when youth are active agents of change and peace in their societies, as the second National Youth Conference was held in Somalia.
