Ramallah, December 19, 2016 - UN-Habitat and its national partner, State of Palestine Ministry of Local Government launched two new publications under the framework of the joint cooperation to defend and advocate for the planning rights of Palestinian communities in Area C of the West Bank that is effectively controlled by the Israeli authorities.
Mosul, 8 December 2016 – The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) in Iraq has published a comprehensive urban analysis on Mosul, Iraq’s second largest city and the focus of an international military campaign to liberate it from occupation by the terrorist group that calls itself “Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).”
Gaza, 13 December 2016 - With financial support of the Government of the Kingdom of Belgium, UN-Habitat and UN Women have launched a new innovative Programme to advance women’s and youth’s rights to participate in reconstruction and recovery efforts in Gaza.

Kigali, 6 December 2016 – Over 40 government delegates representing directorates of physical planning, and land administration and management from 17 Eastern and Southern African countries agreed to explore ways of integrating and enhancing collaboration, coordination and dialogue when implementing land and urban policies.

Bossaso, 24 November 2016 – Bossaso Municipality, in Somalia’s semi-autonomous region of Puntland, launched its first ever urban development plan at a town hall meeting this month. The planned city extension will accommodate urban growth and bring public services closer to communities in Puntland’s economic hub. The plan is the first one that adopts the planning standards and principles of Punt land’s Urban Regulatory Framework, approved by the government in November 2015.
