Final report of the Euskal Hiria Kongresua 2020 global Expert Group Meeting “Cities for All: Ageing and Inclusion” held 23 and 24 November 2020, organized by UN-Habitat with the support of the Regional Government of Basque Country (Spain).

On 28th and 29th September 2020, UN-Habitat and Turkana County Government hosted a two-day virtual workshop to receive feedback and facilitate discussions with County officials on the potential land-use proposals based on existing situational analysis as well as proposals provided by stakeholders from previous multi-sector meetings. This plan would also support the County Government for the conferment process of the proposed Kakuma-Kalobeyei Municipality.

The project is implemented in close collaboration with the Benadir Regional Administration/ Mogadishu Municipality and in partnership with World Health Organization, Danish Refugee Council and Save the Children. The aim of the action is to support the preparedness, response and mitigation activities of the BRA.

The report “Marib Urban Profile” - developed over the course of one year and the fifth in a series of urban profiles developed by UN-Habitat in the Arab States Region - examines how in the past five years, Marib have ushered in Marib’s transformation into one of the fastest growing cities in the Arab Region and catapulted from the periphery to the very core of Yemen’s political, economic and security dynamics.

The UN-Habitat’s report - Cities and Pandemics: Towards a more just, green and healthy future – evidences how cities can reduce the impact of future pandemics and become more prosperous, fair and environmentally friendly. The Report calls for the response and recovery to pandemics to be based on human rights principles. It outlines how cities should lead the move towards a New Social Contract between governments, the public, civil society and the private sector.

The 2021 edition of the United Nations World Water Development Report (UN WWDR 2021) entitled ‘Valuing Water ’ groups current methodologies and approaches to the valuation of water into five interrelated perspectives: valuing water sources, in situ water resources and ecosystems; valuing water infrastructure for water storage, use, reuse or supply augmentation; valuing water services, mainly drinking water, sanitation and related human health aspects; valuing water as an input to production

The Global Compendium of Practices on Local Economic and Financial Recovery includes experiences and lessons from different cities on COVID-19 recovery. The provision of global practices gives cities across the globe an opportunity for peer-learning in developing and implementing their immediate response and recovery plans.

The report provides an overview of UN-Habitat’s work in the Arab region during 2020. It outlines how we responded to the COVID-19 pandemic and provides snapshots of our projects and highlighted interventions under each of the four domains of change of UN-Habitat Strategic Plan 2020-2023

This Compendium follows the publication of the first Compendium in early 2020. UN-Habitat has developed these series of case studies for urban and rural practitioners and leaders interested in territorial approaches to development. This second Compendium provides new inspiring examples of integrative efforts that apply the principles and actions of UN-Habitat’s “Urban-Rural Linkages: Guiding Principles and Framework for Action” (URL-GP)
