UN-Habitat helps in solving land disputes
Minova, Congo DR, 27 June 2017—After the death of their father about 10 years ago, Celestine Buhoro believed that she would at least get a portion of land as part of her inheritance. This was not to be and the brother hogged the whole piece left behind. When the brother also passed on, his son- Celestine’s nephew- also held on to the land.
Strengthening land management for peaceful coexistence in Darfur, Sudan
Khartoum, 15 June 2017— UN-Habitat ’s office in Khartoum in collaboration with GLTN regional office for Arab states and in partnership with UNDP Sudan Country office, recently organized a four-day training workshop to provide hands-on training on relevant tools and techniques, through participatory planning and enumeration, to ensure returns and reintegration processes are sustainable.
Urbanization highlighted at the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum
Saint Petersburg 12 June 2017 -- This year’s Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) was held over three days with a keynote speech by the President of Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and attended by more than 14,000 thousand participants from 143 countries. Guests of the Forum included Presidents and Prime Ministers, as well as 45 Ministers from 30 countries.
The SPIEF, being held since 1997, is one of the best-attended events on business and economy.
