Nairobi 29 June 2020—The First Session of the UN-Habitat Executive Board this year was held virtually on Monday with strong calls for more resources and action to address the COVID-19 pandemic.

Over 330 participants registered for the Session, which was chaired by the United States, including representatives from the 36 members of the Executive Board and other observer countries, civil society, UN agencies and others.

The decision to hold the meeting online was based on the recommendation by the Bureau of the Executive Board of UN-Habitat during its meeting on 11 May 2020, based on the continued unpredictable global circumstances with regard to COVID-19 and measures put in place by the Government of Kenya, the United Nations and the United Nations Office in Nairobi (UNON).
