Kalobeyei Photobook 2: A sustainable settlement for all – then vs now 2021 The Kalobeyei Photobook 2 builds upon the foundations of the first Kalobeyei Photobook published in 2016. It traces the progress of urbanization since the inception of the Kalobeyei Settlement in Turkana, Kenya, and captures discussions on thematic areas through the perspective of Turkana and Refugee youth. Like the first time, the youth utilized their skills in Photography and ICT, and contributed to the discussions which practitioners can heed moving forward.

The Housing Approach focuses on policy reform, operationalizing housing strategies, and implementing housing programs and projects, and its performance was evaluated based on five fundamental activities. The ultimate goal is to increase access to affordable and adequate housing while promoting sustainable urbanization and reducing poverty.

Dadaab Spatial Profile 2021 Since 2020, UN-Habitat has been funded by the EUTF Programme entitled ‘Enhancing self-reliance for refugees and host communities in Kenya’. The spatial profiles produced during the first phase of the project have focused on establishing the existing conditions of the refugee hosting areas, identifying challenges and opportunities for inclusive development, and outline recommendations for improvement of the settlements.

UN-Habitat Reformed and Repositioned 2021 In terms of prominence, UN-Habitat is much better positioned within the UN System with the Executive Director returning to the humanitarian cluster as a member of the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC).
