Chengdu hosts the second forum on sustainable urban development
Chengdu, 14 August 2018-- The Second High-Level International Forum on Sustainable Urban Development was recently held in Chengdu, organized by UN-Habitat and China Center for Urban Development (CCUD), implemented by Chengdu Municipal People’s Government.

UN-Habitat roots for the rights indigenous peoples in cities

Asian-Pacific City Summit discuss sustainability

Improving Public Transport Services for Women: A Story from Cairo
Cairo, 2 August 2018--Due to their specific needs and responsibilities such as caring for children, the elderly or people with disabilities, going to work, as well running the household, women generally tend to have different travel patterns than men. Many are often subject to sexual harassment on public transport or encounter barriers such as poorly lit streets and bad quality footpaths, which inhibit their access to public transport.

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres today announced the appointment of Victor Kisob of Cameroon as Assistant Secretary-General and Deputy Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat). He succeeds Aisa Kirabo Kacyira of Rwanda, to whom the Secretary-General is grateful for her dedicated service to the Organization. Ms. Kacyira will continue to serve as Deputy Executive Director until Mr. Kisob assumes his position.
