Juba 16 August 2018 – In commemoration of the International Youth Day, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports of the Republic of South Sudan and United Nations Human Settlement Programme (UN-Habitat) hosted a learning sharing workshop in Juba.

Maroua, Cameroon, 14 August 2018—A total of 30 municipalities in northern Cameroon, a region badly affected by the activities of the terrorist group Boko Haram, have joined the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy, being part of the 9,000 member strong grouping.

Many are often subject to sexual harassment on public transport or encounter barriers such as poorly lit streets and bad quality footpaths, which inhibit their access to public transport.

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres today announced the appointment of Victor Kisob of Cameroon as Assistant Secretary-General and Deputy Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat). He succeeds Aisa Kirabo Kacyira of Rwanda, to whom the Secretary-General is grateful for her dedicated service to the Organization. Ms. Kacyira will continue to serve as Deputy Executive Director until Mr. Kisob assumes his position.
