Multilayered Vulnerability Profile for Kerkennah Archipelago, Tunisia

This Municipal Vulnerability Assessment (MVA) for Kerkennah, Tunisia, was developed under the global UN-Habitat project “Accelerating the implementation of the Paris Agreement by building the climate resilience of the urban poor.” It provides a comprehensive analysis of the municipality’s exposure, sensitivity, and adaptive capacity to climate change.

Through consultations with local stakeholders, including the Municipality of Kerkennah, civil society organizations, and national partners, the MVA identifies key climate risks - particularly sea level rise, coastal erosion, and water scarcity. It also presents actionable strategies for enhancing local climate resilience, such as improving infrastructure, conserving natural ecosystems, and strengthening institutional capacity.

This publication applies the methodology set out in the Multilayered Vulnerability Assessment (MVA) Handbook, offering both a diagnostic tool and a guide for local planning processes, aiming to empower Kerkennah’s communities to adapt and thrive in the face of growing environmental challenges.
