After the adoption of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM) and the Global Compact on Refugees (GCR), CMI, OECD, UN-Habitat, UNICEF, UNCTAD, UNESCO, and WHO worked together to support local authorities in advancing the implementation of the two global compacts. The recommendations in the report respond to the needs of local authorities and, while being context-related, inspire adaptation to specific priorities, geographical position and local context.

With rapidly increasing urban populations, cities in Africa are faced with enormous challenges and will have to find ways to facilitate by 2015 urban services, livelihoods and housing for more than twice as many urban dwellers than it has today.

It offers guidance on how national policies for urbanization should address public space and strengthen involvement of different stakeholders in that effort

The Blue Economy is an emerging concept which encourages better stewardship of our ocean and other blue resources. It provides for an inclusive model in which coastal zones, or those with significant waterbodies – which sometimes lack the capacity to manage their rich water resources – can begin to extend the benefit of those resources to all.
