Project De Development Inclusif Et Integre Des Territoires Urbans Et Ruraux En Afrique 2021 Le Cameroun a rejoint le projet de développement inclusif et intégré des territoires urbains et ruraux en Afrique, par la signature le 20 septembre 2019 d’un accord de coopération entériné par Madame le Ministre de l’Habitat et du Développement Urbain, afin de contribuer au renforcement des relations villes-campagnes. Ainsi, depuis 2019 un groupe national de travail interministériel dénommé « l’Equipe-pays » composé d’un Comité et d’un Secrétariat technique chargé de promouvoir, coordonner et suivre la prise en compte des « Relations Villes-Campagnes » dans les politiques et stratégies de développement a été constitué à cet effet.
Improving the Well-being of Host & Refugee Populations in Bourj Hammoud 2021 Maraach, one of the most densely populated areas in the Middle East, has some 6,000 residents composed of roughly 60 per cent vulnerable Lebanese and 40 per cent Syrian refugees and other nationalities. Residents face many challenges including poverty, limited access to water and electricity; few safe, accessible public spaces; exposed unsafe electrical wiring and run-down buildings and common spaces which were badly damaged by the Beirut Port explosion last year.

Economic Development Assessment in West Nile Region, Uganda 2021 The report aims to fill existing spatial and socio-economic data gaps through identifying baseline information via conducting area-based socio-economic analyses and economic-development analyses aiming to support urban management strategies that also address the needs of urban migrants in the region. The publication adopts an integrated planning approach that promotes dialogues across planning scales as well as across administrative boundaries including with different urban stakeholders.

However, challenges remain due to the high cost of building materials, lack of access to affordable finance, weak land administration systems, and the informal nature of much of the housing stock.

Guideline on Riverbank Filtration in Egypt 2021 Riverbank Filtration is a water provision solution that uses riverbank soil as a natural filter. Having implemented more than 30 units in Egypt, UN-Habitat supported the drafting of the “Guideline on Riverbank Filtration in Egypt” to support effective and accurate institutionalization of the technology in the Egyptian codes and practices. The guideline supports planning, site selection, designing, construction, monitoring and maintenance of RBF units in Egypt.
