From 24 to 27 February 2026, UN-Habitat will engage in the 13th Asia-Pacific Forum on sustainable Development (APFSD), convened at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok, Thailand. As the United Nations custodian agency for SDG 11 (sustainable cities and communities) and co-custodian of SDG 6 (clean water and sanitation), UN-Habitat will bring the urban perspective to regional deliberations on accelerating the 2030 Agenda.

Held under the theme “Transformative, equitable, innovative and coordinated actions for the 2030 Agenda and its SDGs for a sustainable future for all,” the APFSD is the region’s primary intergovernmental platform for reviewing progress and identifying solutions to fast-track implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Contributing to global review processes

The 2026 APFSD will review SDGs 6 (clean water and sanitation), 7 (affordable and clean energy), 9 (industry, innovation and infrastructure), 11 (sustainable cities and communities), and 17 (partnerships for the Goals). Through its participation, UN-Habitat will emphasize how integrated urban policy, local action, and multi-level governance drive progress across these Goals.

As the official regional preparatory meeting for the 2026 High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) in New York, the outcomes of the APFSD will directly inform global discussions on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, ensuring that Asia-Pacific priorities and experiences are reflected at the international level.
