UN-Habitat and Tongji University launch publications on rehabilitating urban rivers and net zero carbon villages

Nairobi, 19 March 2019—UN-Habitat Executive Director Ms. Maimunah Mohd Sharif and Prof. Wu Jiang, the Executive Vice President of Tongji University last week jointly launched two publications on rehabilitation of polluted urban rivers and guidelines for net zero carbon villages in Yangtze Delta Region.

UN Environment Assembly hosts inaugural Cities Summit

Nairobi, 13 March 2019 – UN-Habitat and UN Environment, together with ICLEI, UCLG and Cities Alliance, co-hosted the first Cities Summit during the Fourth United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA4) in Nairobi. Held under the theme Innovation for Livable and sustainable Cities: Multi-level and Integrated Urban Systems, the Cities Summit provided a forum for high level dialogue between mayors, ministers, private sector leaders and civil society representatives.

Applications open for new UN-Habitat training course on sustainable transportation in Asian cities

NAIROBI, March 2019 – UN-Habitat is organizing an eight-day training course to develop skills and know-how in transport sector policy and implementation

The course, which will be in the form of an interactive, problem solving workshop, will run from 25 April to 2 May 2019 is organized by the Capacity Development Unit and Urban Mobility Unit, specifically the Urban Pathways programme  at IUTC Eco-complex  in Gangwon Province, Republic of Korea.

Kenya’s Kisii Town validates Draft Solid Waste Management Strategy

Kisii, Kenya: The stakeholders in solid waste management in  Kisii town, Kenya, provided inputs to the draft long term strategy for solid waste management in the town. The strategy was prepared UN-Habitat in consultation with Kisii town authorities. The Strategy Document is one of the three outputs under the ongoing UN-Habitat and Kisii County Project.
