As an extension of the Buraidah City Profile, the demonstration project will apply the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) principles on sustainable neighbourhood planning, applicable to the Saudi context. One of the primary goals of the project is to demonstrate how to implement possible solutions for shifting urbanisation in Saudi to a sustainable development track, without adopting heterotopic models. Instead, it intends to develop locally rooted traditions and culture and the design components.
Saudi Cities Profile Report for the year 2018 has been published. It has been prepared based on the new trends in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, such as Vision 2030 and the National Program of Transformation (II). The report also benefited from the results of the cities prosperity index and Urban Planning and Design Laboratory (Urban Lab).This report was presented at an internal workshop at the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs in May 2018.
The purpose of this report is to assess the situation of women and youth in Saudi cities.The study includes data extracted from four different studies in order to find a more comprehensive and clear understanding of the nature of life in the cities, as well as the themes referred to by the initiative of the prosperity of cities.
