Urban Energy Unit discusses energy efficient buildings with Kenya architects

UN-Habitat presented the 'Energy Efficiency in Buildings in East Africa' (EEBEA) project to approximately 100 architects and town planners of the Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK). The architects had gathered in Nairobi for their annual breakfast to discuss 'The Role of Smart Technology in Buildings'.

Lake Victoria Initiative gets Acknowledgement

The Lake Victoria Water and Sanitation Initiative (LVWATSAN)has been acknowledged in a publication by a body that coordinates water issues in the United Nations wide system.

The Initiative's approach to capacity building has now been recognized as a "best practice" case study in capacity development for the water and sanitation sector, in a new book entitled"Water and the Green Economy – Capacity Development Aspects",published by the United Nations University on behalf of UN-Water.

UN-Habitat and Coca Cola Foundation this week launched water, sanitation and hygiene project for six Tanzanian schools.

During the function held at Butimba B Primary School in Mwanza, the Regional Commissioner for the area Mr. Evarist Ndikilo said : On behalf of the United Republic of Tanzania, l would like to assure Our partners (Coca-Cola and UN-Habitat) in this project that the Government fully support this WASH for schools project and it is looking forward to work together with you in the implementation of the project."

UN-Habitat and Coca-Cola Foundation launch Water, Sanitation & Hygiene project for Uganda schools

UN-Habitat in partnership with the Coca-Cola Foundation has launched a water, sanitation and hygiene project that will benefit over 8,000 students in 8 schools in Uganda. The project is expected to provide a model approach to improving water and sanitation in urban schools through collaboration with the private sector.

Coca-Cola Africa Foundation and UN-HABITAT launch schools sanitation

The Coca-Cola Africa Foundation and UN-HABITAT on Tuesday launched a USD 332,287 program that will provide sanitation and access to clean water to over 20 selected schools in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.

The program aims to provide rainwater harvesting, basic sanitation and hygiene awareness as well as expand access to safe drinking water, basic sanitation and to promote behavioral change in hygiene practices among the pupils and immediate communities.
