Spotlight on UN-Habitat Lebanon’s Work (2019 – 2021)

Since 2006, UN-Habitat in Lebanon has focused on responding to successive crises that the country has witnessed, including:

• The war of July 2006
• The Syrian refugee crisis
• COVID-19, the Beirut Port explosion, and the current socio-economic crisis

In a country that is close to 90% urban by population, hosting 1.5+ million refugees – UN-Habitat also focuses on implementing effective, area-based, multi-sectoral humanitarian-development nexus response, while laying the foundation for long-term sustainable urbanization.
