Formed in 1991, in the Eastlands of Nairobi, SMAK is a grassroots entity working for women emancipation. It caters for the needs of the hard-to-reach population, with a bias towards teen-mothers. Through skill-building, SMAK empowers the young to be self-sufficient.
Currently, SMAK engages in Social Justice, protection and preservation of Historic places and the use of Music, Dance and Drama for social transformation. By the use of Participatory Video as a media tool, it gives voice to the voiceless in action and role-playing.
