Lebanon’s National Urban Policy Synthesis Report: Intersection of Housing and Transport

UN-Habitat Lebanon has produced two guides that detail how to mainstream housing and transport–mobility into a future National Urban Policy (NUP) in the country. The making of inclusive and sustainable communities is deeply rooted in the interconnectedness of the housing and transport sectors, along with other sectors.

The objective of this synthesis report is to provide insights into Lebanon’s NUP programme by exploring the interlinkages of the two sectors identified as a priority (housing and transport), based on a general analysis of the housing–transport nexus in urban planning and development. The report also briefly discusses the additional considerations brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic on these two sectors in Lebanon, as one example of a crisis that has policy implications.
