The UN-Habitat’s report - Cities and Pandemics: Towards a more just, green and healthy future – evidences how cities can reduce the impact of future pandemics and become more prosperous, fair and environmentally friendly. The Report calls for the response and recovery to pandemics to be based on human rights principles. It outlines how cities should lead the move towards a New Social Contract between governments, the public, civil society and the private sector.

The Global Compendium of Practices on Local Economic and Financial Recovery includes experiences and lessons from different cities on COVID-19 recovery. The provision of global practices gives cities across the globe an opportunity for peer-learning in developing and implementing their immediate response and recovery plans.

The National Urban Policy Programme (NUPP) remains a pivotal tool towards promotion and achievement of transformative, inclusive, green, productive and resilient urban development. UN-Habitat developed the Spatial Development Framework (SDF) methodology with tools like the Matrix of Functions, to assist national, regional and local governments to make spatially informed strategic decisions to achieve policies, plans or strategies, based on the empirical understanding of the territorial dynamics. UN-Habitat implemented the MoF in Maputo Metropolitan Area to support an integrated territorial development for the area and prepared this report to present the results.

COVID-19 pandemic is affecting urban areas all around the world, especially high-density public spaces and informal settlements. Despite the willingness to act, local Municipalities in Mozambique often lack technical and financial capacities. To support them, UN-Habitat in the context of the Urban Task Force for COVID-19, prepared this manual for markets’ spatial adaptation for COVID-19 prevention.

This end-term Project evaluation of the “Fostering Tenure Security and Resilience of Palestinian Communities through Spatial-Economic Planning Interventions in Area C”, West Bank, Palestine for the period of 2017-2020 focused on the assessment of the results achieved and the lessons learnt from the implementation of the of the Project.

This midterm evaluation assessed UN-Habitat Afghanistan’s Municipal Governance Support Programme (MGSP). This publication describes how Participatory Budgeting is a multidimensional, democratic tool capable of supporting governments to achieve the Agenda 2030. The publication introduces new networking models and cross-cutting approaches that can shape a new governance model. The case study in General Escobedo, Mexico, illustrates the actions, results, and strength of this approach.
