| Background |
| UN-Habitat, the United Nations Human Settlements Programme, is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable and resilient towns and cities. It is the focal point agency for all urbanization and human settlement matters within the UN system. UN-Habitat envisions well-planned, well-governed and efficient cities and towns, with adequate housing, infrastructure and universal access to employment and basic services such as water, energy, and sanitation. The Ministry of Human Settlements and the UN-Habitat have signed an Agreement for the establishment of UN Habitat Country Office and Programme in South Africa to assist in ensuring South Africa has well-planned and well-governed cities. |

Organizational Setting and Reporting Relationships: This Driver position is in UN Habitat South Africa Programme office in Pretoria, South Africa. The incumbent report administratively to the program support unit in Nairobi and to the head of Programme in South Africa. The position is open to South Africa nationals only.

| VIII. Special Notice |
| Appointment or assignment against this position is for an initial period of one year with the possibility of extension. Eligible applicants selected from outside the duty station are responsible for any expenses in connection with their relocation to the duty station. |
