Job Title: Budget and Finance Assistant

Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the general guidance of the Chief of Budget and Finance and direct supervision of the Associate Expert - Finance, the budget and finance assistant will perform the following functions:

  1. Process Service Orders and Sales Orders including maintaining the list of balances for 64HCR.
  2. Support the coordination, storing and issuance of donor receipts in an organized system.
  3. Support accounts payable, incl. payment and management of bills and liabilities.
  4. Create WBS elements for budget allocations.
  5. Assist in the creation of unreleased and released budget in unearmarked grants.
  6. Support in the management of accounting adjustments.
  7. Assist in the processing of allocation and allotment documents.
  8. Assist in the management of cost recoveries inwards and outwards.
  9. Support the maintenance of the organizational structure of the organization.
  10. Assist in the preparation of periodic reporting documents.
  11. Support with data extraction, processing and analysis.
  12. Perform any other duties for the Finance and Budget Unit as may be assigned and required.

Evaluation Criteria: Evaluations will be conducted on the basis of the following three UN Competencies: Professionalism, Teamwork and Client Orientation. 

Academic Qualifications:

Completion of secondary education or equivalent is required. Supplementary training in field of accounting and finance or related fields is desirable.

 

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with completion of secondary education or, a minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience required with bachelor’s degree.  
Experience with the United Nations system is desirable.

 

Language:

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this role, fluency in oral and written English is required. Working knowledge of other UN official languages is an asset.

 

Other skills and competencies:

Microsoft Excel (desirable)
SAP-based ERP software (desirable)
