Supporting Planning for Integrated Refugee and Host Communities: June - July Issue 2021 This bimonthly newsletter by UN-Habitat highlights the programmes being implemented by the Humanitarian-Development Practices workstream of the Agency, in partnership with governments, implementation partners, refugee, migrants and host communities. The work stream addresses commitments within the Global Compact on Refugees, Global Compact for Migration, Agenda 2030 and the SDGs, to contribute a comprehensive response to "Leave No One Behind".
Executive Summary – Guidelines for Sustainable Reconstruction and Urban Regeneration in the MENA Region 2021 UN-Habitat and the World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) co-developed the Guidelines for Sustainable Reconstruction and Urban Regeneration in the MENA Region to highlight key issues, approaches and methods, and propose bespoke solutions for individual and community-wide sustainable reconstruction projects based on the Build Back Better, leveraging recognized sustainability practices in the built environment while also addressing context specific needs unique to post-conflict reconstruction.
Coastal Cities of the Western Indian Ocean Region and the Blue Economy: Strategic Roadmap 2021 WIOMSA and UN Habitat commissioned Arup to prepare a ‘Roadmap for the Development of the Blue Economy in Coastal Cities’, which provides recommendations for cities in current and future blue economy planning, activities and investment. The Roadmap provides strategic and operational blue economy recommendations across case study cities, which stakeholders are encouraged to also read and consider with respect to their city or region.
First Report on the State of Prosperity of the Cities of Bolivia: Primer reporte del estado de la prosperidad de las ciudades de Bolivia 2021 The First Report on the State of Prosperity of the Cities of Bolivia reflects the results of the Prosperous Cities Index (CPI), designed by UN-Habitat.
This index was calculated for 26 urban municipalities in the country in order to provide decision makers with tools that allow them to define a strategic vision for their cities based on data and evidence.
Waste Wise Cities Tool 2021 Waste Wise Cities Tool (WaCT) guides readers through 7 steps to collect data on municipal solid waste (MSW) generated, collected, and managed in controlled facilities. The tool provides a household survey guide for total MSW generation, a questionnaire to identify the MSW recovery chain and criteria to check the environmental control level of waste management facilities in a city.

The profile aims to help offer a common understanding of how multiple shocks and vulnerabilities manifest across the city.

The GEO-6 report, published in 2019, identified urbanization as one of five main drivers of environmental change and also looked at the impact on cities and city residents of related challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution.
