| Niger State Urban Policy: A Roadmap to Transformation | 2024 | As part of the commitment of the Niger State Government (Nigeria) in creating compact, connected, socially inclusive and self-sustaining towns and cities in the State, the State Government has developed her Urban Development Policy with technical assistance from UN-Habitat. The overall goal of the Niger State Urban Policy is to achieve more transparent, equitable, productive, and resilient cities in Niger State, thereby positioning the cities to attain their potentials as engines of economic prosperity and development. The State Urban Policy (SUP) was adopted in 2021 by the Niger State Executive Council, as a framework to guide sustainable urban development in Niger State. This important milestone ushered in the next phase of the SUP: Implementation. The State then carefully selected four demonstration projects to be implemented as part of longer-term efforts to achieve the objectives of the SUP. |

As representative cities at distinct stages of development, Shanghai, China and Lagos, Nigeria have amassed unique experiences in waste management. These experiences not only provides invaluable insights for their respective futures but also serve as beneficial references for other cities seeking to optimize waste management strategies amidst globalization. This publication aims to encourage regions, countries and cities to prioritize investment in and the financing of sustainable long-term waste management initiatives, which are often treated as an afterthought in the context of the rapidly urbanizing world and thus impede the achievement of SDG targets. |

The CiCoSA Implementation Guide serves as a roadmap to navigate challenges on circular construction. It is specifically tailored to policymakers in Sub-Saharan Africa, considering the region's unique social, economic, and environmental context. It outlines the various stages of a circular construction life cycle, from product manufacture and design to construction, operation, and ultimately, building deconstruction. Recommendations emphasize the crucial role of empowering local communities and fostering collaboration across sectors. |
