The United Nations Advisory Committee on Local Authorities (UNACLA) will hold its first meeting after its membership restructure for its new members in New York on 27th September, 2015 at the Mission of Turkey to the United Nations. The meeting which aims mainly to inaugurate the new members of the Committee, and endorse its Project Document for the 2016-2-019 Work Programme, will be chaired by Mayor Kadir Topbas the Chair of the Committee. The meeting will also discuss how to further leverage the contributions of the revitalized UNACLA to the ongoing international debates on post-2015 development goals, the new urban agenda and other political processes relating to sustainable urban development.

During the Committee meeting held on 15th April 2015 at the UN-Habitat Nairobi Headquarters, the members took a decision to restructure the UNACLA membership to ensure that the Committee will be able to perform its political, policy and advisory role, and make its members more strategic in supporting and implementing the new urban agenda and other associated international processes relating to sustainable urban development. Consequently, UNACLA now comprises of 20 members in total with 10 coming from the United Cities and Local Government committees (UCLG), and the remaining 10 from the members of Global Task Force and other Local Government Associations who are active in the debates on the post-2015 development goals, new urban agenda and other related ongoing international processes."
