The objective of the project is to support the integrated recovery from the earthquake disaster and enhance the resilience of earthquake-affected and vulnerable communities in Aleppo and Lattakia/Jableh, entailing three major outcomes:

  • Outcome 1: Integrated damage database that supports a return to safe buildings and informs the prioritization of recovery interventions. 
    • This will be achieved by the damage assessment on buildings and infrastructure in affected areas (Output1-1), and the establishment of the urban information system of damage assessment results (Output1-2). 
  • Outcome 2: The area-based recovery interventions guided by recovery plans in both Aleppo and Lattakia, it is deemed as essential to formulate the Participatory Recovery Planning with the area-based approach. 
    • Output 2-1: The plan shall include the specific sectoral needs including but not limited to the housing restoration, as well as the community disaster risk reduction plan for the resilience city as a preparation for the future natural disaster. 
  • Outcome 3: Residents of target locations of Aleppo and Lattakia have sustainable access to basic services, safe housing and tenure security. This will be accomplished with rehabilitating the prioritized infrastructures for basic services 
    • (Output 3-1) and preparing a rehabilitation plan for selected damaged buildings
    • (Output 3-2, and enhancing the protection of Housing, Land and Property rights
    • (Output 3-3). The project considers in interventions gender equality and basic needs of men and women.
