The Catalan Government, the Barcelona City Council, the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona, and the Catalan Fund for Development Cooperation are giving support to the Lebanon Host Communities Support Project (LHSP) of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Specifically, they agreed to work jointly within the Al Fayhaa Union of Municipalities in order to support the Union in mitigating the effects of the influx of Syrian displaced in the solid waste management sector.
Within the framework of this programme, the 17 and 18 October a technical mission from the Catalan partners and Catalan experts (included the Catalan Waste Agency and MedCities), is expected to visit Lebanon as a scheduled activity called “knowledge mobilisation”. This mission will focus on the preparation of strategic plan and awareness and change management plans for the solid waste management in Al Fayhaa Cities in North Lebanon.
