Cities prepare to play major role on sustainable solutions to climate change
28 May— As the impact of climate change becomes more evident and widespread, cities will need to be prepared to adapt to new challenges to safeguard their large populations. The mayors of the cities of Paris and Victoria in the Seychelles, the Executive Director of UN Habitat and the Vice-President of the Economic and Social Council will talk to the media on how cities can cities can be at the forefront of new initiatives that will help people prepare for these impacts and strengthen their resilience.
Both Paris and Victoria are cities taking the lead on innovative and sustainable solutions to this issue.
Paris will be the host of the 21st session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC in December 2015, and the Seychelles is working with other countries, and civil society organizations to establish genuine and durable partnerships to tackle climate change as part of the Third UN Conference on Small Island Developing States.
