The objective of the National Urban Forum is to raise the profile of local implementation of the New Urban Agenda and the Agenda 2030 at the country level, promoting inclusive debates towards improved sustainable urbanization strategies, policies and programs.
The expected outcomes of the forum are knowledge base building – capacity building, tools and national support for implementation, engagement – a permanent multi-stakeholder platform, awareness raising – putting the local and urban dimensions at the centre of national priorities, and policy advice – elaborating on a National Urban Policy.
This focus of this National Urban Forum will be the multi-stakeholder formulation of a National Urban Policy. It will serve as input to the Governments’ initiatives and be a platform for safeguarding the adequacy and implementation of policy at the local level.
