In support of planning, management, and implementation of actions to address recovery needs and urban durable solutions, UN-Habitat has developed the position paper « The territorial dimension of displacement in northern Mozambique » that aims to advocate for the promotion and joint implementation of integrated urban interventions improving the living conditions of host communities and IDPs, as well as supporting a local governance mechanism to drive sustainable urban development.

Final report of the Euskal Hiria Kongresua 2020 global Expert Group Meeting “Cities for All: Ageing and Inclusion” held 23 and 24 November 2020, organized by UN-Habitat with the support of the Regional Government of Basque Country (Spain).

On 28th and 29th September 2020, UN-Habitat and Turkana County Government hosted a two-day virtual workshop to receive feedback and facilitate discussions with County officials on the potential land-use proposals based on existing situational analysis as well as proposals provided by stakeholders from previous multi-sector meetings. This plan would also support the County Government for the conferment process of the proposed Kakuma-Kalobeyei Municipality.

The report “Marib Urban Profile” - developed over the course of one year and the fifth in a series of urban profiles developed by UN-Habitat in the Arab States Region - examines how in the past five years, Marib have ushered in Marib’s transformation into one of the fastest growing cities in the Arab Region and catapulted from the periphery to the very core of Yemen’s political, economic and security dynamics.

The UN-Habitat’s report - Cities and Pandemics: Towards a more just, green and healthy future – evidences how cities can reduce the impact of future pandemics and become more prosperous, fair and environmentally friendly. The Report calls for the response and recovery to pandemics to be based on human rights principles. It outlines how cities should lead the move towards a New Social Contract between governments, the public, civil society and the private sector.

The "Integrating Health into Urban and Territorial Planning: A Practical Training
Guide" is a comprehensive sourcebook developed by UN-Habitat in partnership with
the World Health Organization (WHO). Building on the sourcebook, this training
manual addresses the need to incorporate health and well-being into urban and
territorial planning. It is an essential tool for urban health professionals, planners,
decision-makers, and civil society…

UN-Habitat developed the Spatial Development Framework (SDF) methodology with tools like the Matrix of Functions, to assist national, regional and local governments to make spatially informed strategic decisions to achieve policies, plans or strategies, based on the empirical understanding of the territorial dynamics. UN-Habitat implemented the MoF in Maputo Metropolitan Area to support an integrated territorial development for the area and prepared this report to present the results.

COVID-19 pandemic is affecting urban areas all around the world, especially high-density public spaces and informal settlements. Despite the willingness to act, local Municipalities in Mozambique often lack technical and financial capacities. To support them, UN-Habitat in the context of the Urban Task Force for COVID-19, prepared this manual for markets’ spatial adaptation for COVID-19 prevention.
