Localizing the Post-2015 Development Agenda

Since the launch of the dialogues on localizing the post 2015 agenda in May 2014, 13 countries have organized territorial and national consultations, gathering a wide range of stakeholders, a high number of regional and global events have been celebrated in various regions of the world.  The consultation on localizing the post 2015 agenda, co-led by UNDP and UN Habitat, on behalf of UNDG, and the Global Taskforce of Local and Regional Governments, aims to identify lessons learned from the MDGs and current best practices related to how to implement the new Sustainable Development Goals at a local level. An advisory committee, which includes representatives of national and local governments, multilateral organizations, civil society networks, the private sector and academia, has also provided a guide to the process. The dialogues process will culminate in a global meeting, in which the main outcomes of the consultation will be presented and discussed. High level participation is expected from national ministers, mayors, local councilors, public officials, and high level representatives of UN agencies, civil society organizations, and the private sector.
