Contributing to the objectives of the YouthConnekt Africa Summit, the Urban YouthConnekt Session provides a platform for partners involved in urban youth development to synergize around policies, programs and partnerships that connect urban youth for continental transformation. The 2019 Urban YouthConnekt session provides a deliberate urban youth perspective that will focus on youth innovations in fragile states towards peace and resilience in cities. UN-Habitat’s policy and programming in these states continue to be at the forefront of urban resilience and transformative models in Africa. These practices resonate with this year’s summit theme “Boosting an Industrious Young Africa.”
In this regard, the session will achieve:
Progressive commitment by participating Africa ministers to register and support programmatically their countries as Members the Africa YouthConnect.
Launch the UN-Habitat South-South Cooperation Initiative for African Youth in cities, which will support urban youth networks, learning, knowledge sharing, innovations, and markets.
Development of the Urban YouthConnekt Strategy that will influence and guide youth programming and policy in African Cities.
