Barcelona’s Experience in Resilience: Setting the stage for building resilient cities
The International Workshop “Barcelona’s Experience in Resilience”, to be held on February 24-25th, 2015, at the Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site (Barcelona) is organized by the City Council of Barcelona, in partnership with UN-Habitat and the BCN Urban Resilience Partnership. This public-private alliance was set up in 2013 with a group of companies and high-level research centres based in Barcelona and is deeply engaged in building the city’s resilience strategy. It constitutes an innovative model of public private collaboration operating globally.
Building on extensive experience, this international event aims at sharing Barcelona’s resilience model from a stakeholder perspective, highlighting key factors for success, underlining challenges and exchanging knowledge learned from cities facing similar challenges. The event will be presented in several interactive sessions in the form of plenary panels, technical presentations, technical workshops and site visits.
“Barcelona’s Experience in Resilience” constitutes a unique opportunity for cities, private business and research teams to come together to share experiences, pool ideas, network and inspire one another to continually develop initiatives on urban resilience. Hundreds of attendees from various cities around the world are expected, including Bogotà, Tehran, Panamà, Copenhagen and Bangalore.
Some of the world’s leading international organizations in resilience, such as 100 Resilient Cities of the Rockefeller Foundation or the C40, will also participate in the event, co-convened by the City Resilience Profiling Programme.
