UN-Habitat, in partnership with the International Urban Training Centre (IUTC), Republic of Korea, is inviting senior decision makers, policy makers and housing practitioners from Asian cities to apply for the training course “Innovative approaches to deliver affordable housing options for Asia”.

This 9-day training course aims at the development of skills and know-how in housing policy and implementation that will enable course participants to design transformational and innovative housing solutions for the problems that they encounter in their city.  The program provides the participants with an in-depth understanding of the functioning and structure of the housing sector in their country, how housing markets work, and the rationale of the supply and demand for affordable housing options amongst the different segments of the population.

Key issues addressed during the training course include but not limited to housing policies, programs and projects; housing markets; housing finance; land supply; incremental housing; housing policy analysis and housing policy formulation; self-help, mutual-help and self-management housing production processes; housing at the center of the new urban agenda; SDG11.

The course will offer cutting edge lectures, case studies and references from different countries.  It will be organized in the format of an interactive and problem-solving workshop that allows for exchange, discussions and peer-to-peer learning amongst the participants. Furthermore, the course will expose participants to housing policy and practices from different countries, with a hands-on in the experience of Korea through site visits and discussions with Korean housing practitioners. A Housing Practitioners Lab will enable participants to get a hands-on the problem and formulate solutions in their own contexts.

The training course will take place at IUTC Eco-complex - an environment friendly facility – in Gangwon Province, Republic of Korea.
