Apply now to the Singapore - UN-HABITAT international capacity building programme: 26-30 August 2019 in Singapore

Singapore and UN-HABITAT is organizing the 3rd edition of the International Leaders in Urban Governance Programme for Africa which will take place between 26-30 August 2019 in Singapore.  Mayors, governors, heads of metropolitan regions and provincial governments, decision-makers, senior urban practitioners, and senior officials from rapidly urbanizing African cities are encouraged to apply. The programme in 2018 attracted 36 city leaders from 14 countries and 15 cities.

The 5-day long urban governance programme seeks to strengthen the capacity of decision-makers in the areas of sustainable urbanization and improve knowledge on local finance, housing, urban planning and land management, mobility, the Sustainable Development Goals, the New Urban Agenda and the Singapore’s Liveability Framework. The programme is problem-solving oriented and provides an interactive learning experience that facilitates exchange of knowledge, best practices and peer-to-peer learning. Participants will get acquainted with Singapore’s urban transformation experience through technical visits and discussions with Singaporean experts.

Participants will receive support in the formulation, development and follow-up of action plans on the priority urban challenges for their respective cities. The programme will be enhanced by the participation of mentors and practitioners from the Government of Singapore and UN HABITAT.

The Government of Singapore will sponsor the costs of programme fees, as well as accommodation, per diem, hospitalization insurance, local airport transfers, and daily transfers to/from the training venue for the duration of the programme for accepted participants. Please note that participants will only be responsible for securing and covering the costs of their return airfare and visa fees.

The programme will be fully conducted in English. For further information on the programme and the list of eligible countries, please refer to the programme brochure and application form.

To be considered, interested candidates should submit a filled-out application form and the two completed PowerPoint presentation templates to Grace_lau@mnd.gov.sg and Tan_Pei_En@mnd.gov.sg. Applications will be assessed on the first-come, first-serve basis.
