Seoul Metropolitan Government hosts ‘Seoul Urban Regeneration International Conference 2020 (SURIC2020) under the subject of “Post COVID-19, the Future and Strategy of Urban Regeneration”.
This international conference aims to reaffirm the value of recovery and advancement in communities, and to plan an experiment regarding the possibility of community regeneration through our daily lives. It will also focus on the value and experience of Seoul’s model of urban regeneration with those of the global community.
The online conference is scheduled to take place from 22nd to 23rd, October 2020 and consists of four compelling sessions and one very special talk.
Day1 (October 22nd)
This year’s conference successfully invited many prominent speakers & panelists from international organization and internationally distinguished cities including Katowice, the next host city of World Urban Forum and World Bank, and not least UN-Habitat.
That Executive Director Maimunah Mohamed Sharif from UN-Habitat is expected to deliver a keynote speech as well as the acting Mayor of Seoul Metropolitan Government during Opening Session would be a momentous occasion that makes this conference ever more extraordinary.
Session 1 will cover Community Resilience and Rise in the aftermath of COVID outbreak and its ensuing pandemic. 5 eminent and famous speakers will deliver informative presentations including personnel of international organization and international cities’ mayor.
Day2 (October 23rd)
During the Session 2, a very ground-breaking and innovative challenge for changes in urban places will present itself. Under the subject of Urban Living Labs for Changes in Everyday Places, young architects are supposed to show to the world what they will have accomplished in terms of making a positive change in urban places over the last month. The work of these young and passionate architects will be on the stage of evaluation and advice during ‘Professional Review & Discussion’.
Session 3 will address Case Studies for Connecting the World and Sharing the Value of Urban Regeneration. Public Officials who are responsible for policy-makings in their own countries/cities will play an important part during this session, and many best practices of each countries will be shared among audience online for application and viability to their own nations’ policy framework.
Last but not least, a very Special Talk under the name of ‘Change and Future Value of Urban Regeneration in the post COVID-19 era’ will make a great finale for the whole conference. World-famous urban scholars and leaders of cities will have a crucial yet ever-lasting effective group discussion on the future direction and value of Urban Regeneration in the era of post-COVID-19.
