Growing worldwide urbanization poses major challenges for city dwellers, urban areas and for the environment, exacerbating climate and health risks.
Improving agri-food systems and green spaces and peri-urban forestry can help build resilient and sustainable cities.
That is why FAO unveiled the Green Cities Initiative in September 2020.
Now, to promote sustainable agri-food systems and green lifestyles for better African cities, FAO is pleased to invite you to the:
Launch of the Green Cities Regional Action Programme for Africa
Monday 21 June 2021 from 14.00-16.00 (CEST)
The high-level event features a keynote address by FAO Director-General QU Dongyu and includes a virtual signing ceremony with mayors and governors from six African cities who will share views on the future of their city. There will be presentations on innovative ideas for cities and a roundtable discussion on financing smart cities.
